Wade in the Water is a faith-based alliance of citizens who meet monthly to share fellowship, information, and inspiration--dedicated to a vision of Mobile as a community that fosters social, economic, and environmental justice.
Due to the extreme cold, with “feels like” temperatures around 10 degrees, we’ve made the tough decision to postpone tonight’s Wade in the Water meeting. We know, given the horrible events unfolding in our country—the brutal violence and complete abandonment of truth—we could all use some fellowship (as well as some comfort food). But we also think people will relish the comfort of their warm homes tonight. So we’ll reschedule in February—please watch for forthcoming notices. And keep praying.

We survived another year! Please bring a favorite dish and help us celebrate the start of our 5th year of sharing fellowship, information, and inspiration. Following the meal, our talented friend from Truelight Missionary Baptist Church, Michael Sangboi Slater, will lead us in song, and our good friends from
Stand Up Mobile will guide a discussion about their 2026 mission, “Revive the Village.”
Hope you can be with us!

Five years ago, in the aftermath of the January 6th insurrection in Washington, two friends decided to stop watching from the sidelines. That moment sparked the beginning of Stand Up Mobile, a nonpartisan, Black-led grassroots organization grounded in civic education, voter engagement, and community power. As a celebration of these five years, our friends at Stand Up Mobile are hosting a “Revive the Village” event, featuring inspiring voices, local performers, and a keynote address by nationally recognized civil rights leader and racial justice advocate Maya Wiley. It will be held on Friday, January 9, from 5:30 to 7 PM, at the historic Central High Auditorium at the Pathway School. Please click on the link below for more details, to learn more about Maya Wiley, and to reserve a spot for yourself and your friends.

The beautiful and awe-inspiring Lessons & Carols service will be held at All Saints Episcopal Church, 151 S.
